# Ad Formats in the Audio Player, Playlist, and Summaries

> Explore the display, audio, and video ad formats available in the Powerbeans Audio Player, Playlist, and Text Summaries widgets for publisher monetization.

Each Powerbeans product ships with built-in ad formats that activate as part of your monetization configuration. You do not need to set up separate ad tags, configure individual placements, or manage creative trafficking — formats go live automatically when monetization is enabled. The only exception is Enterprise publishers who choose to supply their own VAST tags to bring custom direct demand.

## Formats by Product

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Audio Player">
    The Audio Player runs audio and display formats directly within the listening experience. Because the reader actively chose to play audio, ad placement occurs at a moment of genuine attention.

    * **Pre-roll audio ads** — a short audio ad plays before the article audio begins. This is the highest-attention placement in the player, delivered to a listener who just pressed play.
    * **Post-roll audio ads** — an audio ad plays after the article audio finishes. Reaches listeners who stayed engaged through the full piece.
    * **Companion banners** — a display banner shown alongside audio ads, reinforcing the audio message with a visual. Companion banners are served in sync with pre-roll and post-roll audio placements.
    * **Display formats** — standard display placements within the player interface, serving independently of audio ad breaks.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Playlist">
    The Playlist widget surfaces longer listening sessions, making it suitable for sequential ad delivery across multiple articles.

    * **Audio pre-roll** — an audio ad plays before the playlist starts. Delivered to a listener at the moment they commit to a session of content.
    * **Video formats** — video ad placements run during playback, taking advantage of the video-capable player surface and the higher CPMs that video demand commands. Video ads play without audio by default, consistent with standard outstream video behavior.
    * **Display formats (before playback)** — display placements shown on the playlist before the listener begins, capturing attention during the browsing moment.
    * **Display formats (during playback)** — display placements that continue to serve while the listener is actively engaged with the playlist.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Text Summaries">
    The Text Summaries widget embeds display advertising directly inside the summary experience, without requiring the reader to start audio.

    * **Embedded display placements** — display ads are placed within the summary widget itself, appearing as the reader engages with the AI-generated summary.
    * **Interaction-triggered display** — optionally, display placements can remain hidden until the reader interacts with the summary widget, ensuring ads only appear when active engagement is confirmed.

## Why These Formats Perform

Standard display inventory placed between scrolled paragraphs captures little attention. Powerbeans formats are different because they appear inside surfaces the reader deliberately opened — a player they pressed play on, a playlist they browsed to, a summary they expanded.

* **81% correct brand recall** for audio ads served through Powerbeans placements. Listeners who chose to engage remember what they heard.
* **Over 1% CTR** on audio combined with companion banners. The industry average for standard display is below 0.1% — that is more than ten times the engagement.
* **Active intent at the moment of serving** — whether a reader starts an audio article, opens a playlist, or expands a summary, they made a deliberate choice to engage. Your ads appear at that moment, not in a passive scroll position.
