# Free via Ads: Let Ad Revenue Cover Your Subscription Fee

> How Free via Ads applies your ad earnings against your monthly subscription fee, who qualifies, and how surplus revenue is paid out.

Free via Ads is an option available to eligible publishers on the Scale and Enterprise plans. Instead of paying your monthly platform fee out of pocket, your ad earnings cover it first.

## How It Works

  <Step title="Ad revenue accrues">
    Ads run across your Powerbeans widgets as normal. Revenue accumulates throughout the month based on impressions and demand.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Platform fee is offset">
    At the end of the month, your ad earnings are applied first against your monthly subscription fee. If ad revenue equals or exceeds your plan cost, your effective fee for that month is zero.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Surplus is shared">
    Any ad earnings above the platform fee are then split between you and Powerbeans according to the standard [revenue share rates](/monetization/revenue-share) — 50/50 for Scale, 70/30 for Enterprise.

## Eligibility

Free via Ads requires approval and is only available on the Scale and Enterprise plans. To find out whether your site qualifies, check the [Subscription page in the dashboard](https://dashboard.powerbeans.ai/subscription).

Surplus payouts follow the same [payout schedule](/monetization/payouts) as standard revenue share earnings.
